Italian Palmier Appetizers

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Open pastry and flatten with hands into 2 (9-1/2-inch) squares. Beat together egg and cream; brush over dough, discarding any excess egg mixture.
  2. Place 3 slices prosciutto over each rectangle. Arrange half of cheese over each rectangle; top with pepper, then basil.
  3. Roll each edge of dough tightly into center until each side meets in the middle. Cover with plastic wrap; chill at least 1 hour.
  4. Cut dough across both rolls into 1/2-inch slices. Place cut sides down onto parchment or foil-lined cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated 400°F oven 15 to 16 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.
