These vegetarian sandwiches with melted Sargento® 2 Cheese Cheddar slices are an exceptional twist on a traditional grilled cheese sandwich.
3 tbsp butter, softened and divided
4 slices whole grain bread
2 slices Sargento® 2 Cheese Cheddar
1/2 pear, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
2 Medjool dates, pitted and chopped
2 tbsp chopped toasted walnuts
Pinch sea salt
Spread half of the butter over 1 side of each bread slice. Lay 2 slices, butter side down, on work surface; layer cheese, pear, dates and walnuts over top. Sprinkle with sea salt; cap with remaining bread, butter-side up.
Melt remaining butter in large skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches, turning once, for about 5 minutes or until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
